Kastaniotis Editions S.A was established in 1968 by Athanassios Kastaniotis, who is today the Chairman and Managing Director of the Publishing Company.

Ioanna Karystiani

Ioanna Karystiani was born in Chania in 1952 of Asia Minor parentage. Since the publication of her first book, the short-story collection Mrs. Kataki (1995), she has become one of the most renowned and popular Greek writers. Twice awarded the Greek National Book Prize (in 1998, for her novel The Jasmine Isle and again in 2007 for her novel Swell); she has also won the Athens Academy Award (in 2001, for her novel The Suit in the Dust) and the Diavazo prize for Best Novel for The Suit in the Dust and more recently, for The sacks. Her novels have been translated into German (Suhrkamp/Insel Verlag), Italian (Editioni e/o, Crocetti editore), French (Les Éditions Du Seuil), English (Europa Editions), Spanish (Lengua de Trapo), Croatian (Fraktura Publishing House), Turkish (Dogan Kitapçi-lik), Lithuanian (Vaga Publishers), Slovenian (Beletrina-Studentska Zalozba) and Hungarian (Gondolat Kiado).
