I don’t expect to make a living out of the casino – my aim is to not lose, or to only lose a little, to keep myself in the game for as long as possible. My ultimate aim is, at some point, to sweep the table clean. Meanwhile, I make ends meet thanks to a contract of indefinite duration with the Athenian daily «Asyrmatos». Some other day I’ll explain how I’ve played my hand so that I get paid from the paper’s accountant but get to spend most of my time at the cashier’s in the casino. The basic idea is that the paper pays every first of the month, while the casino daily.
Vladimiros Dimitriades, a lay-about journalist, activist gambler, old fashioned communist and intermittent lover-boy, has found his own trick so that, instead of working, he gambles. Nevertheless, his obsession will lead him to an end game where we will bet everything he’s got. He will collect the profits – if any such exist- at a different level which had never entered his head.
