They called me Cat; referring of course, to my moral code, which they don’t accept. But who has the right to determine what is moral and what isn’t? What is right or wrong? What is legal or illegal? I lived as my conscience dictated. I fought with teeth and claws alone, in order to survive in any way I could. I didn’t always play by the rules, this I admit, as in my opinion the right way to live is the one which most pleases you, which gets the adrenaline flowing, which makes you laugh and cry simultaneously and silently howl in fear whilst continuing to fight like a tiger. This, of course, on the condition that you are on good terms with yourself. To know who you are and what you want. Not to live in an illusion. Whatever I have achieved has been paid for in blood and sweat. I managed to save my soul and owe nothing to anybody. And if my life is deemed as ‘unbecoming’, I have only this to say: I feel proud to be an independent woman belonging only to myself. A tomcat…

They called me Cat is the story of a proud and independent woman who achieved happiness by going against rules and convention.
