Can the passions of adolescence mark us for ever? Is there expiation when you know that, even if you could turn time back, you would do the same things all over again?

It is the eighties, at some high school in the southern suburbs of Athens. The arrival of the pretty and provocative Sue upsets the lives of her fellow students, who trail her devotedly into the frenzy of an era inundated by pop music and movies about aliens, archaeologists and ring fighters.

Ten years after their graduation, the “children of midnight” still seem trapped in the darkness of their adolescence: they find it impossible to come to terms with a disappearance, a suicide  and the rumour that, at sixteen, Sue had been their teacher’s mistress. The creature that will set them free, at the beginning of the 21st century, is the one that knows all the secrets. Or almost all?

A novel about eroticism and the latent impulses of an age which is savage but also tender, innocent but also guilty. A book about the well hidden truths that define us irrevocably.
